Absolutely Studio led the production and installation of Square Eyes, a large-scale mural by Camille Walala at The Lowry in Salford Quays. Completed in September 2025, the mural forms part of the gallery’s 25th anniversary programme and launches a new series of annual commissions inviting international artists to respond to the surrounding landscape of MediaCity and Salford Quays.

Stretching almost 70 metres in length and up to 5 metres high, the mural transforms a previously grey passageway along the Quayside Promenade into a bold geometric intervention. Walala’s signature colour palette and graphic forms create a striking new visual identity for the space while echoing the architecture and energy of the surrounding waterfront.
Installation took place while the building remained open to the public, requiring careful coordination around access and visitor circulation. Absolutely Studio managed preparation, scaling and installation, and supported The Lowry team in navigating the complex logistics of moving powered access equipment from the loading bays, through the galleries and out to the Promenade.
The mural was painted using highly pigmented Bristol Paints, with over 60 rolls of masking tape used to achieve the clean geometric lines across the surface.
